Exploring Again With Queen of the Beehive

We're talking with Krystle from Queen of the Beehive (@queenofthebeehive) about slowly starting to explore again as a family! We know families are trying to find a new balance of getting out of the house while maintaining a safe distance. It was so great discussing ideas with Krystle!

Wanderwild: Krystle, why is exploring as a family important to you?
Krystle: It's important to me that we explore as a family because I want my kids to know that there is a big world around them. Having us there helps guide them between the good and bad while still letting them take it in on their own.

Wanderwild: During quarantine, what did you miss most about exploring beyond the backyard?
KrystleDuring quarantine we have managed to explore outside of our backyard in our own neighborhood a lot. What we have missed most is the local attractions like the museums, zoos, aquariums, etc.

Wanderwild: Do you have any fun plans with your family once you can explore again?
Krystle: Once quarantine is officially over, we’ll be looking at taking our first real family vacation together.

WanderwildWhat advice would you give to other families who want to explore? What will you be doing differently when you start exploring again?
Krystle: My advice to other families that want to explore is let their kids lead the way. It is so good for them to feel independent, as if they are making the decisions on where to go. Make sure to do this in an area you are comfortable with letting them go in.

WanderwildWhat has been your most favorite family exploration?
KrystleMy favorite exploration with my kids is any one where they find something new. Seeing their faces light up with excitement when they find a new bug, new leaf, new tree, etc. is just so fulfilling as a parent.

Krystle, thanks for sharing your adventures with us! We're so grateful to have you as a Wanderwild family.
